Here are some resources for this very beautiful and exotic instrument. Our Institute is blessed as my father is one of the very few players of this veena. I have grown up watching him play. I still carry childhood memories of being cuddled up in my bed and hearing the resonating strings of his veena echoing through the house as he did his early morning riyaz (practice) at our home in Juhu Beach, Bombay. The degree of difficulty in playing this instrument make it a rare commodity these days. But it is my sincere hope and desire to see its continuity as its majesty and musical presence is unequal. Many instruments can only dream of producing such fluidity in expression that is possible from the Vichitra Veena. This is one of the main reasons that I and my father have decided to produce an instructional video so it may inspire others to learn and keep its traditions alive for future generations.
